Meme Coins 90% Below Peaks: Dogecoin, PEPE Market Update

Meme coins are showing two very different stories at once on November 2, 2026. Day-to-day prices look relatively calm, with Bitcoin holding near $78,000 and Dogecoin steadying around $0.076. Step back further, however, and the same coins sit far below their former highs, a gap that shapes how traders are reading every small rebound.

A cross-asset comparison published on November 2, based on research by Charlie Bilello of Creative Planning and reported by BeInCrypto and TradingView, puts Dogecoin about 90% below its all-time high. Fartcoin trails its peak by about 95%, while the Official Trump coin sits about 98% below its high and the Official Melania coin about 99% below. Bitcoin, by comparison, sits about 39% below its peak, and Ether about 55% below.

Dogecoin today: steady price, divided whales

Dogecoin traded at about $0.0760 at midnight ET on Monday, up about 0.40% over 24 hours, according to a TokenPost market snapshot. Later readings on November 2 put it slightly lower, around $0.0755, down modestly on the day, which underlines how quickly intraday meme-coin figures move.

FXStreet reported on November 2 that Dogecoin has fallen for a fifth consecutive week since the end of September and is trading below its key moving averages, with resistance around $0.079 and layered supply near $0.082 to $0.090. The same report, citing Santiment data, described split whale behaviour: wallets holding between 10 million and 100 million DOGE shed about 120 million tokens since Thursday, while smaller whale wallets added to their positions.

Traders note that split whale activity is not a clear signal on its own. Large-holder selling can add near-term pressure, while accumulation by other large wallets can offset it. What it does show is disagreement among the biggest holders, rather than a single coordinated move.

PEPE: a strong week, a soft Monday

PEPE tells a similar story of short-term strength inside a longer decline. AMBCrypto reported that PEPE gained almost 15% over the past week, making it one of the stronger weekly performers, and Token Times data on November 2 showed PEPE up about 9.55% over seven days even as it slipped about 2% on the day to about $0.00000474.

TokenPost put PEPE at $0.00000483 early on November 2, down about 1.78% over 24 hours. Token Times also put PEPE about 82% below its all-time high. In other words, a good week has not erased a much larger drawdown, and analysts are watching whether PEPE can hold its recent gains above key daily moving averages.

Arkham Intelligence-linked wallet activity reported by AMBCrypto, involving wallets linked to Justin Sun holding about $51 million in PEPE after reported accumulation over 10 days, has drawn attention among traders. Wallet watching can explain interest, but it does not by itself confirm a trend, and large wallets can sell as well as buy.

MemeCore swings show why daily moves mislead

MemeCore is a useful reminder of how fast meme-coin leadership can flip. CoinGecko data reported on November 1 showed MemeCore down 11.6% that day, while CoinStats data on November 2 showed MemeCore leading its top-100 movers at about $0.8685, up about 2.61%. Neither reading cancels the other; together they describe a volatile token moving sharply in both directions within days.

The same pattern appears across the wider market. TokenPost reported total crypto market capitalisation at $2.62 trillion at midnight ET on Monday, down 2.92%, even as Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, BNB and Dogecoin posted small gains. CoinStats, later in the day, showed 27 gainers against 69 losers among its top 100 coins. Traders note that a rising Bitcoin price does not guarantee a rising meme-coin market.

What a 90% drawdown really means

The most important number in today’s meme-coin update is not a daily percentage but the recovery arithmetic behind it. A coin down 39% from its peak, like Bitcoin in this comparison, needs about a 64% gain to return to that peak. A coin down 90%, like Dogecoin, needs about a 900% gain. A coin down 99% needs far more.

That maths does not mean a recovery is impossible, and meme coins have produced extreme rebounds before. It does mean that a 5% or 15% weekly gain, while notable, closes only a small part of the gap. Analysts are watching weekly closes, trading volume and whether buyers step in on dips, rather than treating a single green day as a turning point.

Note that each coin peaked at a different time, so these percentages measure distance from each coin’s own high, not losses over one shared period.

What traders are watching next for meme coins

Several catalysts remain in view this week. The team behind the Official Trump coin has scheduled a gala dinner for holders on November 22, according to the November 2 reporting, an event traders often watch for attention-driven moves. More broadly, the US midterm elections on November 3, major technology earnings and Friday’s jobs report are all expected to move risk appetite across crypto markets.

For meme coins specifically, analysts are watching Dogecoin’s ability to reclaim levels near $0.079 to $0.082, PEPE’s hold above its recent weekly gains, and whether MemeCore’s latest bounce builds into steadier trading or fades as quickly as its previous slide. Volume matters here: a price move on thin volume is easier to reverse than one supported by sustained buying.

None of this amounts to a forecast. Meme coins remain driven heavily by sentiment, social attention and liquidity, which can change faster than fundamentals in larger assets. That is precisely why today’s update pairs the calm surface, with Dogecoin near $0.076 and Bitcoin near $78,000, against the deeper picture of coins still 90% or more below their peaks.
